Jason proves himself to be one of Chester’s best

Jason Lloyd, 21, from Pembrokeshire, South West Wales, studied for a Business Management BA (Hons) Degree at the University which has given him the foundation he needed to pursue a career in financial services. 

During his course, Jason secured a placement at Innes Reid made possible by the University’s close working relationship with thebestofchester business support organisation which sets up work placements for students with its local business members.

Kay Kent, who has worked internationally on corporate training and development projects, will be taking a lead on all client-based work across the Faculty and on inter-Faculty projects.

Kay, who was previously the Faculty’s Executive Education Manager, is looking forward to the new challenge. She said: “This post will co-ordinate how we market and promote the work of the Faculty and enable us to develop our services and range of programmes to meet the needs of both public and private sector client organisations.

He is now an internationally-recognised and widely-published expert on marketing, management and public affairs.

Cheshire’s top businesses honoured at High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise

The winners were announced at a special ceremony at the University of Chester last night (Wednesday, March 18).

Founded by a former High Sheriff of Cheshire, David Briggs MBE, in 2006, the Award for Enterprise is judged on ambition, innovation, growth, enterprise, and employee and management development. The entrants are also required to explain the way in which they will ensure their company continues to expand in the future.

As Foundation Chancellor of the University, His Grace will attend the ceremony at Chester Cathedral, together with three esteemed individuals who are to be honoured for their exceptional achievements.

Businessman, Stuart Chambers; the former High Sheriff of Cheshire, John Richards OBE; and former Head Teacher of The Hammond School, Polly Dangerfield, will receive Honorary Degrees from the University.

High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise 2008 launches

With thousands of pounds worth of prizes to be won, the winner and two runners-up will be announced at a glittering ceremony in March 2009, at the University of Chester’s Chester campus.

Now in its third year, the High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise has attracted support from a whole host of regional and international sponsors, which recognise the spirit of enterprise and development in Cheshire.

New Head of Chester Business School

Chris Pyke, who is also Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business, Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, is a specialist in corporate financial management and strategic business management.

He said: "Our mission is to turn out business graduates who are technically competent, enterprising and have the skills demanded by employers.
