Sheffield Hallam University appoints new PVC Dean

Professor Hopgood is currently Dean of the Faculty of Technology at De Montfort University, and also has responsibility for the University's international strategy. He joined De Montfort in June 2007, having previously worked for Nottingham Trent University and the Open University. His industrial experience includes work with Telstra Research Laboratories in Melbourne, Australia and Systems Designers plc (now part of Hewlett-Packard).

The Open University Business School honours outstanding student achievement

The award recipients include an international MBA student and young mother who transformed a small national tourism show in Moscow into the second largest international travel show in Russia.

Martina Stenech, who collected the award for MBA Student of the Year sponsored by the Chartered Management Institute, originally worked as project and sales manager for MSI Fairs and Exhibitions. She was promoted to Business Director of the Vienna office in 2005, managing 20 employees, developing new business and supporting the growth of existing exhibitions.

New Partnership Deal for the Open University Business School

This partnership will enable Japanese students to gain a qualification from a triple accredited business school. The MBA programme content will enable Japanese students to engage with international students and alumni during residential schools, to develop business networks and different perspectives on business challenges.

New Dean of the Business School and Economics at Loughborough Appointed

As Dean he will lead the implementation of an amibitious strategy to further enhance the national and international profile of the Business School and Economics and strengthen their position as leaders in their field.  

Angus is currently Professor of Management and Head of School of the University of Glasgow Business School, and has previously held the Beneficial Bank Chair of Marketing at the Open University Business School where he was Director of Research.

The Open University Business School MBA graduates’ celebrate success in Russia

At the ceremony, the graduates will be joined by Professor Denise Kirkpatrick, Pro-Vice Chancellor of The Open University and Ms Carmel McMahon, Associate Dean, International at The Open University Business School.

Professor Denise Kirkpatrick, Pro-Vice Chancellor of The Open University said: ““I am inspired by some of the student stories and remarkable achievements of our graduates.  Many of the students graduating have been studying part-time. The degree ceremony not only marks the end of studying, but also the start of a new career for many.”

Social marketing aims to utilise the principles and practices of commercial marketing to effect social change, such as changing health behaviours or encouraging sustainability.
