EQUIS, which stands for European Quality Improvement System, is an accreditation scheme for leading institutions in business education. It is granted and run by EFMD, the European Foundation for Management Development, in Brussels.

Business School Appointment Strengthens Marketing Offering

Professor Schoefer joins Newcastle University Business School from the University of Vienna in Austria where he last held the position of Associate Professor of International Marketing. 

Prior to his time in Austria, Professor Schoefer completed his Doctoral Studies at Nottingham University Business School before becoming a lecturer in Tourism Management and Marketing at its Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute.

Enterprising students take UK title for the fourth time

At the end of each academic year, the 47 countries involved in SIFE hold a National Competition, at which SIFE teams present the results of their projects to judging panels of business executives. The competition gives the students and their universities recognition for their hard work during the academic year. 

Northern Rock crisis underlines need for greater disclosure to plug 'information gap'

Changes are needed to plug an 'information gap' that currently makes it difficult to judge the relative risk exposure of different banks before problems become apparent.

In recent research, a team of risk experts  at Nottingham University Business School concluded that any such revision to the regulations should ideally include requirements to disclose specific categories of information that are useful for the evaluation of risk exposure.

Currie explains that despite the growing dissatisfaction expressed by many international students studying on MBA programmes in the UK, few have tried to find out why. He says, ?In other sectors, interrogation of the consumer to determine service need is considered paramount, in management education, the voice of these participants has been pushed to the margins.? His evidence supports the view that UK and Chinese students experience the MBA differently and that Chinese students struggle to adjust to MBA teaching, which is based on Anglo-American assumptions and norms of behaviour.

Survey reveals people's perceptions of life-expectancy

People's perceptions of their own life expectancy can be linked to their decision on whether or not to invest in a pension, a study led by Nottingham University Business School has revealed.

Nottingham University Business School's Centre for Risk & Insurance Studies commissioned MORI to conduct a wide ranging public opinion survey of 3,966 adults aged over 16 years across Great Britain covering various aspects of public perceptions of mortality such as general level of health, smoking prevalence, alcohol consumption, and life expectancy.
