Organisations falling short on key personnel issues

The 2010 edition of the Ashridge Management Index: Meeting the Challenges of the 21st Century indicates that whilst most managers (71%) describe a positive leadership environment within their organisations, only 41% of those surveyed believe leaders in their organisation are developed to lead change well, and just over half state that they feel leaders in their organisation have the necessary skills to lead change.

Ashridge Signs Partnership Deal with Santander Universities

Ashridge is the first private education provider in the UK to join the Santander Universities network – a network of over 800 institutions across the world. The Santander partnership agreement, which totals £120,000, includes:
• Scholarships for Iberamerican applicants to the Ashridge MBA programme
• Mobility awards for students and staff of Ashridge to support international study visits to Iberamerica for the purpose of lectures, company and cultural   visits or exchanges

Ashridge announces winner of the 2009 Sustainable Innovation Award

The essay competition is run in association with the European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS), Hewlett-Packard (HP) and WWF.  Jonathan Alexander, a Masters student from the University of Bath, was awarded first place, with Luc Petit from Ashridge Business School placing second and Srikanth Madani from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland coming third.

Ashridge signs up to United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education

Ashridge Business School is one of the first schools to become a signatory to the new United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education.
 The principles - covering purpose, values, methods, research, partnerships and dialogue constitute the first global guiding framework for academic institutions to advance the teaching and development of corporate responsibility.

Following research and identification of Talent Management practices in leading organisations, Ashridge Consulting has developed a framework of thirteen dimensions of talent management also published in the report. It offers a structure for organisations to recognise the strategic choices they have made and review whether their TM systems will contribute to competitive advantage in the future.

New research identifies abilities managers need

The research, Leadership Qualities and Management Competencies for Corporate Responsibility, identifies five abilities that managers need to develop, in order to integrate social and environmental considerations into their individual business decisions. The findings are based on a questionnaire of over 100 managers and a series of in-depth interviews with senior managers in eleven leading European-based multinational companies.

The research identifies the five abilities as:

  • Systematic thinking
  • Embracing diversity and managing risk
