New Mock Courtroom Opens at the University of Portsmouth Business School

The £1m development is an exact replica of a crown court, complete with dock, witness box, public gallery, jury room and interview rooms. State-of-the-art audiovisual facilities allow court proceedings to be filmed and simultaneously fed into adjacent teaching rooms or recorded for future feedback sessions.

”Clients” can give video testimony and the jury retiring room is also fitted with video equipment so jury deliberations can be recorded and analysed.

University gives free advice to start-ups

The Basics of Building a Business (B3) programme, which starts again in this month (February), will provide people who have dreamt of starting their own business with business skills and practical experience of turning an idea into reality.

Lectures will be presented by business leaders who have set up their own companies, or have been involved at the start-up stage of a new business.

HEFCE hails University of Salford employer engagement success

HEFCE’s Acting Head of Skills, Sarbani Banerjee, described the University’s £3m employer-led education and training project as “transformational” during a conference on employer engagement.
 
Sarbani was a keynote speaker at the University’s “Driving Transformational Change for Employer Engagement” conference, where the Employer Engagement team shared best practice and its ‘enabler model’ for effective employer engagement with more than 50 delegates from business, partner organisations and HEIs from across the country.
 

Plymouth University and Cornwall Business Nominated for National Partnership Award

The partnership between Bude-based Zoeftig Ltd and the University is in the running for a trophy and cheque for £10,000 after being submitted for the UK Best Knowledge Transfer Partnership Awards.

The two organisations will travel to London on Wednesday 10 March, for a presentation and interview, before the overall winner is announced at a gala awards ceremony later that evening.

Where traditional executive programmes are more content based, programmes run through the Centre for Personal Development will encourage executives to take an ‘inside-out’ approach to their advancement. Individuals are provided with the environment, support and resources they need and are challenged to evaluate the ways in which they currently manage their business and look at how that maps to future business imperatives.
