Professor of Public Relations proud to be Chair-Elect

The Global Alliance is the global umbrella organisation which links PR and communications professionals around the world through their professional institutions. Membership includes  institutes and organisations from every continent including the UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) of which Professor Gregory was President in 2004.  She is both the first academic to be awarded this position and the first woman.

Exploring Social Mobility in the Retail Sector

The report was to investigate the factors which impact on career progression and the effect of these on the social mobility of Morrisons staff.

The research illustrates the potential of the retail sector for raising skills levels and providing an important contribution to developing human and social capital. The sector also provides employment opportunities for people from a variety of social backgrounds, often including local jobs for people living in disadvantaged communities.

Business is booming as cutting-edge new university building is unveiled

The University of Lincoln has completed the £6m conversion of a former office block into the new base for its Faculty of Business and Law. The move means it now offers some of the most cutting-edge facilities for business and law students anywhere in the UK.
 

LSBU successful in bid to deliver post graduate management programmes to government staff

LSBU will deliver MPA and MBA awards to government staff. We are the only London based university to have been selected to deliver both degrees on a part time and executive basis.

Jane Houzer, Executive Dean of the Business Faculty at LSBU says: “We are delighted to have succeeded in our bid to deliver these key professional qualifications to government staff. We greatly look forward to welcoming the first participants under the agreement.”

The Open University Business School honours outstanding student achievement

The award recipients include an international MBA student and young mother who transformed a small national tourism show in Moscow into the second largest international travel show in Russia.

Martina Stenech, who collected the award for MBA Student of the Year sponsored by the Chartered Management Institute, originally worked as project and sales manager for MSI Fairs and Exhibitions. She was promoted to Business Director of the Vienna office in 2005, managing 20 employees, developing new business and supporting the growth of existing exhibitions.

Top professionals want careers abroad – and the recession is no barrier

The 2010 Hydrogen Global Professionals on the Move Report reveals that for 60 percent of respondents the recession has had ‘no impact’ on their willingness to move overseas, and 94 per cent are either already working internationally, or want to do so.

This groundbreaking study is of 3,155 mid- to senior-level professionals earning an average salary of $125,000 USD and virtually all holding a professional qualification or above – half with postgraduate degrees such as an MBA.
