EFMD has evolved to be the key international network for management education worldwide. It is recognised globally as a leading accreditation body of quality in management education and has established accreditation services for business schools, corporate universities and technology-enhanced learning programmes. 

Management expertise on offer as The Open University launches business club

Dr Elizabeth McMillan from the University’s Centre for Complexity and Change said: "The club will provide members with the latest management research and an opportunity to share best practice. It will also reinforce our close links with industry and open up a greater pool of research data."

The Club is a cross-faculty project, and will draw on the expertise of staff in the OU Business School and in the Faculty of Mathematics, Computing and Technology.

MMU establishes incubator for graduate entrepreneurs - to encourage business start ups and boost economic growth in the city

The £300,000 project, called Innospace, on Chorlton Street, has been funded by MMU and the European Regional Development Fund with the aim of helping nurture business ideas, improving entrepreneurial skills and providing a viable career alternative for graduates who want to work for themselves.  It was officially opened by Trevor Baylis, inventor of the clockwork radio, on Tuesday October 2nd and around 200 guests from the worlds of business, training and education attended the launch, which was presided over by MMU Vice-Chancellor Professor John Brooks.

What Next?  is an intensive five day programme for those experienced in leadership positions who are within a few years of leaving, or have recently left, their senior roles and who are keen to use their experience and insight to enhance the quality of governance and performance of organisations  – whether on boards, as trustees, or in launching new initiatives.

What Makes a Great Business School Website?

The Web Works project evaluated 18 UK business school websites across ten key performance criteria and 30 further criteria dealing with access to and interest in the information provided. Interactive focus groups were held with 270 current and prospective students to gather data.

The new website and online database has been developed by Graduates Onward (GO!), a European Social Fund funded project run by the Centre for Social Inclusion at MMU Cheshire, that aims to increase the employability of undergraduate students.

UCE Birmingham to create 'future proof' graduates

The two-year initiative, funded by UCE Birmingham and the Higher Education Academy (HEA) will produce training and education resources in consultation with employers to help graduates apply their skills and knowledge in the workplace.

Project leader Dr Celia Popovic, Head of Educational Staff Development at the University's Centre for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT), said: "Traditionally university has focused on giving students skills and subject knowledge but not on how to apply them in the workplace.

Making students more marketable in the workplace

As part of a programme entitled marketing@UH first year students are given the opportunity to work as consultants for a client organisation. Working in teams the students have four months to produce a marketing plan from taking the brief and pitching for the business through to exhibiting their final plan at the marketing@UH event.

Students to Wow Employers at BT Tower

Competing against their peers from Greenwich, Keele, Northumbria, Oxford Brookes and UWE Bristol, students from UCE Birmingham will be given the opportunity to showcase the skills that they have developed on the course with a five minute presentation on their vision for the future of an international online retailer.
