Portsmouth students offer free advice on employment law

Students from the University’s School of Law interview clients before researching the law and procedure under the direction of tutors. They then send clients detailed written advice, which is supervised and signed by a practising solicitor. All work is done confidentially.

They advise on unfair dismissal, various forms of discrimination, redundancy, harassment, the national minimum wage, working time regulations and work permits for migrant workers.

ABS Launches Ethics Guide

In setting out these aspirations, we jointly acknowledge that the process is one of continuous improvement and that part of the role of a Business School is to inculcate ethical behaviours in its students.

Bradford is the only business school in the North of England to achieve an FT 2010 ranking for its highly rated Executive MBA programme. Students on average, see a 70 per cent salary rise four years after starting the programme.

The league table results are compiled using information from two sets of surveys, one completed by alumni graduating three years ago and the other by the business schools.

Carried out for the Association of Business Schools (ABS) by the Nottingham Economics Centre at Nottingham Business School, part of Nottingham Trent University, the report looked at the role of business schools as a focal point for teaching, research and consultancy.

Unique Opportunity for Business School

In a first for the University, SolStonePlus will commercialise the jointly developed software and student engagement tracking system in the UK.

All UK universities have reporting requirements imposed on them by the UK Border Agency to track student engagement. The University of Bedfordshire commissioned a project to produce a working proof-of-concept based on these requirements with SolStonePlus.

Together they came up with an effective student engagement tracking solution – Intelligent Engagement - which has received interest from other UK institutions.

Economic impact study reveals University contribution to the regional economy approaching £250m

This figure is calculated across a range of factors including: procurement of goods and services; off-campus expenditure of staff and students; visitor spend; number of students in the regional workforce and business and community interactions.

The figures have been released as the University holds its graduation week, which in itself attracts 16,000 visitors to the city, spending over £530,000 in just 10 days.

Nottingham Business School Secures Chinese Partnership

A minimum of 15 senior executives from global communications companies, such as Motorola, will be undertaking a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) programme run by Nottingham Business School, part of Nottingham Trent University. The DBA at Nottingham Business School is designed for senior executives to apply the latest knowledge to their own organisations. It has been run with a variety of companies in up to ten countries across the globe.
