Development Programmes

Want to develop in your current role? Feel you don't have the necessary knowledge to operate as effectively as you would wish? Want to meet others in similar roles in other schools?

ABS runs eight unique and affordable training programmes tailored specifically to staff working in business schools.

There have been 921 participants since the programmes started in 2000 with 234 joining programmes in 2009/2010.

ABS programmes are designed to:

  •  tackle the key issues affecting academic and academic related staff in business schools
  • encourage colleagues to exchange problems, insights and best practice
  • bring participants together with experienced experts from in and outside higher education

ABS programmes are delivered by:

  •  group sessions-each over 24 hours, usually in London
  • visits to ABS member schools
  • external speakers, discussion groups and action learning sets

INTERNATIONAL DEANS' PROGRAMME

The ABS/EFMD International Deans' Programme (IDP) is co-designed exclusively for business school deans. It comprises seven days: two 2 day modules at host schools in Europe and one three day module outside Europe.

The IDP provides networking opportunities under the Chatham House rule with counterparts globally in a cohort of around 15 deans and directors of business schools/schools of management.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR MARKETERS

Marketing and Communications staff within business schools have a unique and pivotal role to play in the effective running of the institution, from recruitment through to alumni relations. Roles and responsibilities can often cross job roles and departments, increasingly the boundaries are being blurred between marketing, public relations and communications roles – particularly with the advent of new and social media.
